In other entertainment news, the nominees for the 2016 Academy Awards were announced this morning. Leading the pack with 12 nominations is 'The Revenant' starring Leonardo DiCaprio. It's up for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor. Will this be the year Leo finally wins an Oscar? (As Jason points out, Eddie Redmayne will likely win for 'The Danish Girl' which was seen by about 3 people).
Meanwhile, Jeff is more interested in the 2016 Razzie Nominees, which were announced yesterday; for those unfamiliar, the Golden Raspberry Awards (aka "The Razzies") honour the WORST that Hollywood has offered up in the past year. The films with the most nominations include 'Fifty Shades of Grey', 'Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2' and 'Pixels'.
In sports, reports are saying that Denna Lang - who was seriously injured during a Women's Pro Hockey game at Gilette Stadium in Boston, as part of the NHL's Winter Classic - is planning on launching a lawsuit over her injuries. Lang will be taking legal action against the NHL, The National Women's Hockey League, the Canadian Women's Hockey League and the New England Patriots who own the stadium where the game was being held.
It's expected that Lang's legal team will call into question the condition of the ice, which some say was extremely soft and unplayable the day before the big game between the Bruins and the Canadiens.
