BREAKING FOOD NEWS: Ketchup Doritos have RETURNED! Yesterday while at the grocery store, Jeff discovered the tasty treats - which are only available in Canada - have returned for a limited time. He now has a reason to leave the house...
Good news for foodies who don't want to leave the house...Uber has announced an expansion of the UberEats app! After launching their lunchtime-only delivery service, Uber has decided to expand the service to include full-scale meal delivery from select restaurants in 10 U.S. cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, San Francisco and Seattle.
The service will charge a $5 delivery fee for every restaurant and is designed to compete with other food delivery services/apps such as Amazon's Prime Now, which has also just recently expanded its reach.
In more Uber-related news, a 30 year-old Miami doctor is facing the loss of her job and her medical license after she had a full-on freak-out involving an Uber driver...and the whole thing was caught on video (of course). The woman allegedly tried to "steal" another persons Uber ride and, in the process, threw the driver's belongings into the street and calling him a "f**king piece of s**t".
And it looks like Uber is one step closer to being allowed to operate in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada after City Council revealed they're working on by-law amendments that would make the service "legal" there - for a price. Part of the deal is that Uber would charge a per-ride fee that would be handed over to the city, along with an annual lump sum fee of $70,000.
As Jeff & Jason predicted months ago, cities will be more than happy to allow Uber to operate - as long as they get a piece of the pie.
Great news for out-of-work tech folks in eastern Canada, as it's been revealed that Apple is planning on opening a research facility in Kanata, Ontario just outside Ottawa. Rumour is that Apple is looking at using the facility to work on their automotive technology including the so-called "iCar" (driverless vehicle) as well as vehicle integration with their iOS system.
